Position Summary

The Quality Control and Tax Partner is a senior leadership role within the firm, responsible for steering the strategic direction and operational excellence of the tax advisory practice while ensuring robust quality control and compliance standards across the firm’s professional services. This role blends deep technical expertise in taxation with rigorous oversight of quality assurance frameworks, contributing directly to the firm’s credibility, risk management, and regulatory compliance.

As a key member of the partner group, the individual will lead the tax function providing high-level tax consulting, risk mitigation, and compliance services to a diverse client portfolio across industries. Simultaneously, the partner will oversee the firm’s internal quality control systems, ensuring that all engagements adhere to applicable professional standards such as relevant local regulations.

The role demands a combination of strategic vision, technical proficiency, leadership ability, and unwavering ethical standards. The successful candidate will play a central role in fostering a culture of excellence, driving technical innovation, enhancing client service delivery, and safeguarding the firm’s reputation through meticulous quality assurance practices.

Key Responsibilities

1. Tax Advisory Leadership

  • Lead the tax department, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of tax compliance and advisory services.
  • Provide strategic tax planning for clients, including corporate, partnership, individual, international, and indirect taxation.
  • Stay current on tax laws and regulations; interpret and communicate changes and their impacts to clients and staff.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of complex tax returns and reports.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, identifying opportunities for additional services and value.

2. Quality Control & Assurance

  • Design, implement, and monitor the firm’s quality control systems, policies, and procedures in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Conduct internal quality reviews, including file inspections, technical consultations, and documentation evaluations.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives and training programs to enhance technical competencies and professional standards.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and manage risk across audit and tax engagements.
  • Serve as the point of contact for external reviews and regulatory inspections (e.g., peer reviews inspections).

3. Strategic Leadership and Governance

  • Actively participate in the firm’s leadership team and partner meetings.
  • Contribute to firm-wide strategic planning, budgeting, talent development, and succession planning.
  • Mentor and develop tax professionals, encouraging continuous learning and technical excellence.
  • Collaborate with other service lines to deliver holistic client solutions and drive cross-functional growth.

Qualifications and Skills

Education & Certification

  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent professional qualification (e.g., CA,).
  • Advanced degree in Accounting, Taxation, or Law degree is an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in a public accounting firm, with at least 5 years in a leadership or partner role.
  • Proven experience in tax planning, compliance, and advisory across diverse industries.
  • Deep understanding of quality control standards and audit methodologies.
